Since I was little, I knew I wanted to be an Engineer! When I moved to the UK from Spain, my initial goal was go to university, however due to the cost I decided to investigate the alternative options of how I could begin my career in Engineering.
I gained employment and used this to fund and complete the first year of a HNC in Electronic Design. This course was one day a week, so it worked really well for me in that way. During that year, a friend introduced me the concept of apprenticeships; how to apply, what they offer, the various options and pathways as well as the experience you can gain. He encouraged me to apply to Aish Technologies, a well-known Engineering company based in Poole. I followed the advice and submitted my application, which I'm pleased to say, was successful! Nearly two years on I have gained experience in a range of departments such as Mechanical and Electrical Assembly, Test, Quality and Planning.
I am now in the 2nd year of the HNC in Electronic Design and looking forward to continuing to study towards degree level through an apprenticeship.
